Fabrication Specification

Idea:

Teahouse and residential carpenters, known as sukiya-daiku 数奇屋大工, are famed for their

delicate aesthetic constructions using rustic materials. We hope to emulate their approach to woodworking, using seamless mitered joints, while also thinking about shoji doors, japanese moving doors that are used in traditional housing. We are planning to use wood filler and sanding to create seamless edges for the wood. Tung oil will be used to finish the wood for protection and finish.

On the other hand, the headset has 3 panel windows that illustrate the theme or story of the VR experience. For the painting, we are using Katsushika Hokusai's woodblock print series, Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji

which shows all walks of life of many different people. We are planning to use either laser-cut or heat transfer to output the drawings.
