Scaled Prototype

This week we expanded the idea of kamishiba boxes (storytelling boxes) and combined previous ideas to create a final scaled prototype. Jessie and Ali worked on the overall box, flaps and paintings on one day. While on the 2nd day, Christy and Ali worked on the straps, obi, top/phone slot section and side details of the headset. Ali additionally, did the 3D model plus the orthographic with measurements.

+ Straps: When the sides close, our strap easily collapses and well hidden inside the VR when unneeded. The aesthetics are inspired by the costumes, specifically the obis, of kabuki actors. We tried to mimic the fukuro obi, one of the most traditional obis, common on typical kabuki actors.

+ VR headset: The headset has three folded flaps, inspired by the typical kamishiba boxes. The top flaps is adjustable and meant to fit the head of the user.

+ Wood Block Paintings: For this example, we used the 36 Views of Mount Fuji paintings for this prototype.

There are slots on the bottom (so it won't be in sight of the users) where staff could switch out the panels.
